- Dileef - The Caricaturist
On the second day of October 2010, Mr. Dileef brought laurels to the coastal town of Calicut when he set a world record by sketching the biggest caricature in the world, the 3,333 sq. ft. cartoon of Mahatma Gandhi. The man on a voyage across the globe for the past 15 years, has been shaping and scripting the face value of over tens and thousands of men and women, through instant caricature.
By making caricatures on the spot in art galleries, educational institutions, shopping malls, art schools and cultural centers, Mr. Dileef has popularized his art among the general public. Mr. Dileef has put in maximum effort to convey his ideas and method of working by bringing home this great art to the layman. Commercial ventures discovered a novel marketing and brand promotion strategy by utilizing 'instant caricature sketches'.
Dileef has travelled extensively, all over the world and across India, His conspicuous adventure “INDIANS IN SKETCHES” has canvassed the face of the nation’s diversity by capturing and sketching the images of different castes, tribes and heterogeneous groups, throughout India.
He has worked as guest faculty in art, at various Indian and Gulf schools. Dileef is the recipient of various national and international awards:-
• event managements Dubai 2009 award.
• Kerala cartoon Academy award for caricature 2007 award.
• BMBSK Kendra Aurangabad Best drawing teacher award 1997.
• AKCAA Millennium cartoon award 2000.
Dileef’s cartoons in various newspapers, and caricatures in magazines and visual media, were a matter of pointers towards social awareness.
