Mullaperiyar Dam is located at the meeting point of Mullayar and Periyar Rivers and so this dam was named as Mulla Periyar.
Mullaperiyar dam is situated in the Idukki district where lot of earthquakes have happened recently.
There have been small earthquake near Mullaperiyar dam in November 2011.
There is leakage in the Mullaperiyar dam and there are many places in the dam where it is leaking.
