Calicut Mini Marathon
Information
On the 31st of January 2010, the Social Service Group of Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode brought to Calicut city its first mini marathon in association with PT USHA School of Athletics and Calicut Management Association. This inaugural edition, under the support of Calicut city administration and Actor Jayaram, saw over 6000+ participants running shoulder to shoulder in the 10km mini-marathon run and the 3km dream run category. The theme of the event was "Be the change". With prizes worth Rs.4.1 lacs up for grab, Preeja Sreedharan won the 10km women's category and went on to clinch Gold in the women's 10,000m final at the Asian Games 2010.
Continuing with this tradition, the second edition of Calicut mini-marathon was conducted on 6th Feb, 2011 with the theme "Transforming Lives" in association with Prasanthi School for Children with Special Needs, Calicut.
Calicut city will run again on 26th Feb, 2012 for spreading the message of "Empowering her future " in association with thantedam general park.
